Chanel Arts & Culture Vol.1

£125.00

Launched to mark 100 years of Chanel's presence in the UK, directed by Yana Peel for the Chanel Culture Fund and designed with Zak Group, the inaugural issue revisits five years of the house's partnerships with artists and institutions worldwide rather than looking to the runway.

Essays and portfolios move through contributions from Refik Anadol, Tilda Swinton, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Roselee Goldberg and Cao Fei. Photographic works by Roe Ethridge feautre in a specially commissioned portfolio on the Chanel History Collection. There’s also an interview with architect Peter Marino, printed across a variety of paper stocks that shift in weight and finish from section to section.

The cover itself layers historical and contemporary language directly, a 1921 Lipchitz bust of Gabrielle Chanel styled with the house's fall 2002 sunglasses and shot by Ethridge.
